It shows the designation label, type, status, HPSA score, and source update date when reported. One county can contain several designation areas. Component polygons are deduplicated by designation ID. Their populations are never added together. The source update date describes the designation. The retrieval time describes this request. ## Limits A shortage designation does not establish paid demand, profitability, grant eligibility, payer participation, or permission to operate. A population designation does not mean every county resident is underserved. Mental health designations do not measure physical, occupational, or speech therapy access. The demo requests at most five hundred component records and labels a source transfer limit as partial results. Facility contacts and patient information are excluded. Use the [HRSA download page](https://data.hrsa.gov/data/download) to inspect the underlying publication and usage terms. An empty result does not prove adequate access to care. Confirm local staffing, licensing, capacity, and payer facts before a planning decision. ## What the private version adds The private function collects approved counties on a schedule. It joins designation changes to the practice's own capacity and partner records. Stored snapshots preserve changes, field checks, rejected locations, and the reasons behind each decision. The owner sets the territory and care model. The clinical director checks discipline relevance. The operations lead checks local feasibility.
