Choose a supported river gauge. Compare observations, forecasts, and official thresholds before a person reviews equipment and staffing readiness. ## Public data This demo supports the Neuse River gauges at Smithfield and near Clayton in Johnston County, North Carolina. It requests no address, location permission, or claim details. ## What this shows The National Water Prediction Service supplies observed river stage, forecast stage, and official action, minor, moderate, and major flood thresholds. The table separates observations from forecasts. Each product shows its issue time, and each point shows its valid time in Eastern time. Stage is measured in feet relative to the selected gauge's datum. It is not water depth at a building. Unknown values remain unknown. A separate National Weather Service summary counts active alerts matched to the gauge's county SAME or county UGC code. Null alert polygons do not prevent that code match. Zone-only alerts without a matching county code are excluded. ## Limits The public-data snapshot can lag source changes by fifteen minutes. Observations older than six hours are marked stale. The demo removes forecast points whose valid times have passed and rejects forecast products older than twenty-four hours. These are display rules, not NOAA safety standards. A missing or failed feed is not evidence of low water or no alerts. Forecasts can change. A gauge is not a parcel inundation model, damage assessment, safe-entry decision, or insurance determination. The two gauges do not establish conditions across North Carolina. Use [official NWS warnings](https://www.weather.gov/) for safety information. The demo accepts no visitor location, occupant information, insurer records, medical details, or claims. Public snapshots enter the server cache. No customer record or visitor selection history is stored by the demo. ## What the private version adds A private readiness board joins staff-approved gauges and service zones to the company's equipment, commitments, and authorized account records. It stores snapshots and checked outcomes in records the company owns. The operations director sets regions and standby rules. A qualified field manager checks access, capacity, and preparation. Event history records actual inquiries, equipment use, and false alarms. It does not infer damage from river stage.
