Current coverage uses ZIP prefixes rather than county boundaries. ## What this shows The IRS Business Master File supplies reported filing-requirement codes, ruling months, revenue figures, and organization categories. This snapshot groups organizations by mailing ZIP prefix. The table shows reported filing groups. A separate count shows ruling months in the twelve-month window ending with the snapshot month. A ruling month marks a recognition letter, not a business opening or a new need for bookkeeping. The candidate list shows up to 25 corporate organization labels in alphabetical order. It includes mailing city, NTEE code, and reported revenue band. The selected revenue band filters this list. Filing-group and ruling counts still describe the whole ZIP-prefix group. ## Limits One snapshot cannot establish revenue growth, a filing-tier crossing, or newly added organizations. Reported revenue can be missing, zero, or negative. It is not proof of need for a service. The filing groups come from the IRS requirement codes. Revenue bands are descriptive labels, not a calculation of return eligibility. A preparer must check the applicable return and current rules. Mailing ZIP prefixes can cross counties. No county assignment is inferred. Corporate labels appear only for IRS organization code 1. Other organization types contribute to counts but have no labels in the candidate list. The demo excludes in-care-of fields, personal contacts, street addresses, sort names, EINs, client records, and return uploads. The company's own tax-return data never enters this public pipeline. The source download date and response retrieval time are separate. A separate monthly ingestion step prepares the snapshot. The server caches public results for one day. ## What the private version adds Your practice owner sets the geography and categories. The private function keeps monthly public snapshots and joins them to approved company records. It stores verified changes, preparer corrections, and engagement outcomes in records your company owns. A preparer checks the filing before any approach. Client return information stays outside marketing lists. Scale With Search scopes the snapshot history, private-record join, and review queue as working functions.
