Configure these example jobs with limited permissions and staff approval. Test limits and check drafts. Someone opens AI and reconstructs the order. Which specification controls. What quantity and price were quoted. Which supplier record is current. Whether the customer approved a substitution. What production and quality actually recorded. Which date is requested and which date is confirmed. A useful manufacturing assistant prepares bounded office work from controlled records. It does not interpret engineering, accept a specification, select material, substitute a component, release production. It does not decide quality disposition, promise price, capability, delivery. ## Three jobs a manufacturing agent can prepare from source records ### 1. Prepare an RFQ and specification register The agent reads `rfq/RFQ-2841/intake.md`, `rfq/RFQ-2841/file-register.md`, and `rules/rfq-triage.md`. It writes `rfq/RFQ-2841/prepared-summary.md` with customer, part or assembly number as stated, quantity, requested date, files received, drawing and specification revisions, listed material or components, special processes, inspection requirements, and unresolved questions. It does not choose the controlling revision, judge manufacturability, accept a tolerance, calculate labor, select tooling, or quote. An unreadable drawing, conflicting revision, missing bill of materials, or unclear quantity creates a blocked record for engineering and estimating. ### 2. Conflicting supplier, production, or quality records produce a stop for their designated owners. ## What the manufacturer keeps You keep RFQ registers, controlled specifications, drawings, bills of materials, revision decisions, quotes, commercial rules. You keep purchase and supplier records, order files, production status, inspection records, corrections, run receipts. Your ERP, quality, or document-control system can remain authoritative. The assistant reads only approved exports or paths named for the job. You keep source roles. Engineering or document control records which specification and revision apply. The approved quote controls offered scope, price, assumptions, and validity. Purchasing controls supplier status and approved commercial records. Production controls recorded work state. Quality controls inspection and disposition. A customer or supplier email is evidence, not automatic authority to change an order. You keep business lines explicit. Metal fabrication, plastics processing, and electronics work can share company policies. Their specifications, materials, components, processes, inspection rules, and qualified owners can differ. One line’s supplier record or tolerance example must not become another line’s rule. Engineering approves technical interpretation. Estimating approves quotes. Purchasing approves supplier commitments. Production approves schedule status. Quality approves inspection language. The account owner approves the exact customer message. Name each job's current controlling file. - **Approval and stops.** Name approvers. Stop for missing or conflicting facts. - **Corrections.** The office owner dates accepted corrections in the current file.
