Ask who investigates the issue, who changes the site, and how you accept the result. An SEO recommendation can involve content, a template, a plugin, or a site setting. Require the consultant to identify the actual cause before prescribing a replacement tool or redesign. ## Supply the evidence you already have List the affected URLs and describe what you observed. Include a dated Search Console export if one is available. Note recent changes to the theme, plugins, domain, or page addresses. Avoid calling every traffic change a technical fault. Ask the consultant to separate verified problems from hypotheses and explain what evidence would resolve each hypothesis. For the initial review, define access explicitly. Ask which component produces each item before approving a change. ## Distinguish plugin work from page work Request a plain explanation when the proposal adds, removes, or replaces a plugin. Name the function it provides and any existing component with the same responsibility. For example, ask which component controls the title on the affected template. Mark whether the consultant implements the change or hands it to another developer. Require a recovery plan before changing shared templates or page addresses. Ask what will be saved, how the previous state can be restored, and who decides to restore it. Keep content approval with the business reviewer.
