Define staffed hours, the offline experience, and the person responsible for follow-up before choosing a widget. A chat button is one part of the inquiry path. Your brief should also identify what the visitor is told and what staff receive after the conversation ends. ## Decide which questions chat should handle List the questions staff are prepared to answer through chat. Keep technical assessments, firm quotes, and confirmed appointments within the business process that authorizes them. Write a short description for the widget. Tell visitors whether they are starting a staffed conversation or leaving a request. Use a reply commitment only when the owner approves the process behind it. If the business cannot staff live conversation, consider an ordinary contact form first. Keep a vendor demonstration separate from acceptance on your own site. ## Ask for only what the first reply needs Define the visitor's question, approved reply method, and service or location context. Avoid requesting sensitive documents through a general marketing chat. Require clear labels for any fields in the offline form. Arrange labeled tests while the widget is staffed and while it is offline. Compare the received question and reply details with the submitted values. Record any missing context.
