Check the tested system, certification status, standard version, and report date. Ask the provider to explain the connection between that record and the search it proposes for your website. RESO certification tests technology systems against ratified standards. Certification follows successful testing and acceptance of certification terms. For your agent website, keep certification evidence alongside MLS display approval and a working inquiry demonstration. The checks below are proposed purchase requirements. They establish no result for your current website. ## Match the record to the MLS system you will use Start with the [RESO certification directory, checked 2026.10.14](https://www.reso.org/certificates/). Its entries identify organizations by name and Unique Organization Identifier, or UOI. They show a date, status, and summary link. Find your MLS's full name. Copy its UOI and open the linked summary. If the provider supplies a different organization's record, ask it to explain the relationship in writing. RESO says each MLS system needs its own dataset and API capabilities certified, even when the same vendor serves several MLSs. A vendor's certification does not establish certification for every MLS it serves. Ask the IDX vendor to identify the actual data service behind your proposed subscription. Have it connect your MLS, the tested system, and the service it will use. For multiple MLSs, request a separate evidence record for each source. If you cannot find an organization, ask your MLS and provider to resolve its identity and supply the official record. RESO cautions that its known-MLS list may not include every MLS. Treat an unsuccessful search as unresolved evidence. Its directory says an MLS must pass and accept both Web API and Data Dictionary testing before certification is published. Use this table to interpret the published labels and decide what to request: | Status shown | Published meaning or next check | | --- | --- | | Certified Current | Certification terms have been accepted for the current standard. Save the supporting report. | | Passed Current | Technical testing is complete, but results have not yet been accepted for publication as certified. Request the acceptance status. | | Certified Legacy | Certification is on an older standard. Ask which version the proposed connection supports. | | Uncertified | Ask the MLS and provider for an explanation and the current certification evidence, if any. | The status definitions come from [RESO's certification overview, checked 2026.10.14](https://www.reso.org/certification/) and [directory, checked 2026.10.14](https://www.reso.org/certificates/). Keep the label exactly as published in your purchase record. On the check date, RESO lists Web API Core 2.0.0 and Data Dictionary 2.0 among its current certifications. Save both the date shown in the record and your verification date. Ask the provider to explain what each report date describes. Require it to identify the tested component and standard version. Do not infer the version from the age of a logo or certificate image. ## Request the report behind the claim RESO publishes certification reports through RESO Analytics. Its Analytics FAQ describes reports covering metadata, data availability, API capabilities, and server performance. Performance statistics apply to services that opt in. If you cannot access the report, keep that check open. Ask the provider or MLS to supply inspectable evidence before describing the claim as verified. Use this worksheet in your website brief. Providers can omit irrelevant elements and include local fields. Certification measures standardized data communication rather than the database or user interface. Ask your IDX vendor to confirm the listing details and filters your authorized feed will support. Request permitted samples for the proposed search and property pages. Keep unavailable fields visible in the brief. Access follows the local MLS's data-use and licensing policies. RESO creates standards; it does not provide MLS listings. Record the approved website domain, permitted inventory, display requirements, and reviewer. Request a written quote identifying feed charges, subscription terms, maintenance responsibility, and any pending approval. Keep account-specific prices and limits unresolved until the responsible provider confirms them. ## Make the website demonstrate the visitor's task Arrange a preview using approved listing samples and test contact details you control. Follow a buyer from search through a property page to a received question. Require the message to identify the selected property, page address, visitor's question, and usable reply details. Compare the receipt with the submission. Repeat the task on the agreed phone and desktop layouts. Keep a wrong property reference or missing message open as a failed acceptance check. Test a seller question from the seller-service page separately. Name its recipient and receiving destination. Require proof of receipt there too. Agree how visitors can contact you when listing search is unavailable. Before committing to the proposed service, require a matched certification record, confirmed display permission, written costs, and the agreed preview evidence.
