Then check the homepage link's wording, size, visibility, and destination. TREC lists IABS 1-2 as the current form, effective January 1, 2026. Its guidance says that version is required from that date. Check the actual document behind your link before reusing an older website footer. Use the steps below to prepare a repair brief. Have the responsible broker resolve questions about your business websites and completed notice. ## Link to the completed notice. TREC's IABS guidance calls for a completed form linked from a readily noticeable place on the business homepage. Give your website provider the approved completed file. Ask the broker to verify its contact information before publication. Record the file version, approval date, and website where it belongs. Open the destination without an editing login. Confirm that the actual document loads and its contact section matches the approved copy. If access fails, resolve the file permission or hosting issue before accepting the repair. ## Preserve a permitted homepage label. TREC specifies two IABS hyperlink labels and minimum font sizes. Use a permitted label in full. Inspect the phone layout as well as the desktop layout. Keep the link readable against its background. Record the placement and destination in the repair brief. Ask the broker to review whether the link is readily noticeable. Do not treat a small generic document icon as proof that the specified wording appears. ## Check the Consumer Protection Notice separately. The Consumer Protection Notice is a separate document. TREC's current form page identifies it as CN 1-5. Rule 531.18 requires its link in a readily noticeable homepage location on each business website. Open both links independently. Record the document each one supplies. Correct an old or incorrect file even when the visible label looks right. ## Inventory the business websites you control. TREC's rules define a business website by public access, brokerage-service information, and license-holder control of its content. Ask the broker to assess your homepage, separate business domains, and business social profiles against that definition. Record its owner, homepage address, IABS destination, notice destination, and correction owner. Keep uncertain scope decisions open for the broker's answer. For social profiles, TREC's IABS guidance describes linking in the bio or about section, or linking to a compliant homepage. Confirm the chosen route with the broker. Rule 531.20 addresses both homepage posting and providing the completed IABS notice at the first substantive communication. Ask the broker to maintain that delivery procedure. Keep the website provider's acceptance record focused on the pages and links inspected. ## Record acceptance and future upkeep. Save the approved file, published homepage address, link labels, font-size checks, and document destinations. Name who updates the file after a broker or contact-information change.
