Keep bookkeeping services separate from tax preparation and representation claims. Start with a credentials worksheet before rewriting your About page. The website recommendations below do not establish anyone's qualifications or authorization to practice. ## Distinguish a credential from a registration The IRS distinguishes preparers by credentials and qualifications. It says paid tax return preparers need a Preparer Tax Identification Number. Its directory includes credentialed preparers and certain other qualified preparers.
