Squarespace documents a code-block method. [Squarespace MLS search guide](https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815388-Adding-an-MLS-search). Checked: 2026.10.14. Before commissioning it, ask your vendor to confirm your MLS, Squarespace version, plan, and supported integration. Choose the search destination, then require a phone demonstration from the menu to a received property question. Keep the seller-service inquiry as a separate check. ## Confirm the service before adding its code Give your provider the exact website address, version, template, and MLS names. Request written confirmation of the proposed search method and who supports it. Ask which account holds the subscription and which person maintains the connection. iHomefinder's setup guide provides a Squarespace route and says MLS approval processes vary by MLS. For example, IDX Broker documents contracts that prohibit combining data from different MLS feeds. Confirm display rules with your own MLS and IDX vendor. Require the applicable local rules rather than using another market's checklist. Ask for the approved domain, permitted listing statuses, attribution, and any unresolved board approval. Keep those answers in the website brief. For vendor comparisons, use the same requested tasks and obtain a current quote. Require MLS-specific confirmation from whichever vendor you choose. A published platform option is the starting point for verification. ## Install the supported embed on a defined search page Squarespace's MLS guide lists advanced code blocks for Core, Plus, Advanced, Business, Commerce Basic, and Commerce Advanced plans. Its procedure is to edit the destination page, add a Code block, and paste the IDX service's HTML embed. Some services need additional code injection. Have the builder verify your actual plan before changing it. Obtain the embed from your account or the vendor's current instructions. Require the vendor to identify any additional script and its placement. Keep private credentials out of public page code. Code injection is available on Core, Plus, Advanced, and some legacy billing plans. Header injection applies across the site; page-header injection applies to the selected page. Record where each snippet belongs and who can restore it. Ask the builder to check for duplicate installation before adding another copy. Use a preview for changes, then agree when the finished search may become public. ## Link hosted IDX pages when that is the supported route For an IDX Broker setup using hosted pages, its guide directs users to retrieve page URLs from Design → Website → Page Templates. It then describes adding an external Link in Squarespace navigation. Checked: 2026.10.14; vendor update: 2025.04.01. Use the exact URL from your account. If the controls differ from the guide, ask support for the current sequence. This is a vendor-specific route; follow your chosen provider's instructions. Distinguish the page containing an embedded search from a menu link to a hosted search page. Record the destination for each menu item. Label the buyer search clearly and check how a visitor returns to your biography, services, and contact page. Keep a seller-service destination alongside property search. Give sellers a direct way to ask about representation without requiring them to complete a buyer registration flow. ## Compare direct entry with menu navigation Squarespace says embedded MLS code may not render while you are logged in. It also excludes this customization from its setup and troubleshooting support and does not guarantee template or mobile compatibility. Open the search address directly, then reach it from the homepage menu. Move to another page and return. Repeat on a phone. Record a route that fails even when a direct page load works. Squarespace's Ajax loading feature applies to some version 7.0 templates. Version 7.1 does not have that feature. Its guide warns of conflicts with embedded custom code and says Ajax is disabled for logged-in contributors. For a version 7.0 failure, ask the developer to check the template and reproduce the route in a preview. Have them evaluate the vendor's supported repair. Avoid a blanket instruction to disable Ajax: Squarespace documents templates where it cannot be fully disabled. For version 7.1, investigate the embed and navigation using that version's instructions. Save the URL, starting page, steps, screenshot, and any developer console error. Repeat the failing route after repair. ## Accept the search against buyer and seller tasks Agree these checks with the builder and receiving person. Inspect the receiving inbox or agreed system, then match the receipt to the submission. Keep a screen confirmation and a received message as separate evidence. Assign each failed task to a repair owner. Require a passing repeat before accepting that part of the website. Retain the installed-code locations, search URLs, approval status, support contact, and inquiry receipts at handoff. ## Put the search problem into the whole website brief Bring your current website, MLS names, IDX provider, Squarespace version, failed navigation route, and inquiry destination to the [real estate website page](/for/real-estate). State whether retaining Squarespace is a requirement and resolve it in the written scope.
