Google says it discovers websites automatically. Publishing a site can be enough for discovery, although some sites are missed. [Google's website inclusion checklist, checked 2026.10.23](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/get-on-google). Ask any supplier using the term to identify the task. Registering a domain, helping Google discover a page, and managing a business profile require different work. A useful proposal names the page or account being changed. ## Find out whether the website is already indexed Google's checklist suggests searching with `site:` followed by your domain. It also warns that this search does not necessarily show every indexed URL. Use it as an initial check. Include the homepage and important service pages. Avoid treating a single search result as a complete audit of the website. If a page is absent, document its URL and what you observe. Ask the person responsible for the site to investigate access, page status, and indexing instructions. Keep observations separate from explanations that have not been checked. ## Use Search Console for a specific URL Google documents URL Inspection for requesting a crawl of individual URLs. For many URLs, it points website owners toward a sitemap. Repeated requests for the same URL do not make crawling faster. Ask your website provider to show the inspection result and explain any repair it recommends. If it submits a request, retain the date and exact URL. A request is evidence of an action taken, not proof that the page has been indexed. Google says a crawl request does not guarantee inclusion and describes crawling as potentially taking days to weeks. Avoid writing a completion deadline that the supplier cannot control. Google's eligibility guidance covers businesses customers can visit and businesses traveling to customers. The profile should reflect the real business accurately. Prepare the actual public business identity, contact information, and website destination before requesting profile work. Resolve ownership of an existing record before proposing another. Do not accept an undefined list of search engines as the whole scope. Ask which customer-facing problem each submission addresses. ## Check the page behind the result Once the page appears, follow it as a visitor would. Confirm the service, public identity, and contact destination. Record any old page or redirect needing attention. An indexed page still needs accurate information and a working inquiry route.
