Identify the source, selected queries, location settings where applicable, device, and period. Label the example by its real origin. Use your own property or material explicitly approved for publication. If no permitted data exists, show the report's empty structure. Keep those labels separate. Google defines Search Console's position as the topmost position of a link to the selected property or page, averaged over the relevant impressions. It also explains that a specific search can differ from the average because of variables such as location and search history. If your sample comes from a separate tool, use its documented metric name and obtain its current definition before publishing. ## Put the sample settings beside the chart Use this proposed context block: | Field | Information to show or explain | | --- | --- | | Source | The report or observation method | | Page set | Included property or permitted pages | | Queries | How the selected terms were chosen | | Geography | Country or configured location, as applicable | | Device | Report filter or check setting | | Period | Measurement dates and comparison dates | | Limits | Missing data, changes in method, and omitted context | Preserve those settings with the original evidence. Ask the report owner to confirm that the screenshot and caption describe the same view. If public disclosure cannot include a necessary field, state the limit honestly. Do not fill the gap with a plausible-looking location or date. ## Distinguish report design from a customer result An empty report template demonstrates structure. A live demonstration using your own site demonstrates an observation on that site. An approved customer case requires its own disclosure and result evidence. Use captions that preserve those differences. Avoid combining unrelated searches into an apparent before-and-after comparison. Review whether both periods use the same definition and selected query set. Keep inquiries, visits, and revenue out of a ranking chart unless their separate records support the statements made. State the agency's role only as supported by the delivery record. ## Make the demo useful without private access Place a plain explanation beside the image or interactive component. State what your customer can learn from the real report and which decisions require investigation. Provide an accessible text summary of the displayed result. If the chart cannot be disclosed, explain the fields without publishing its data. Keep account-access requests outside the public demonstration. Offer a request to discuss reporting needs. Ask what the prospective buyer needs to decide, rather than promising the result shown in the sample. ## Review the complete public presentation Ask a reviewer to explain the metric using only the page. Check whether the headline suggests broader coverage than the settings establish. Correct ambiguous captions before publication. Inspect the page on a phone.
