Record the first disagreement. Keep the store's current stock decision separate from the status each system displays. Google's mismatch guidance calls for consistent availability across those surfaces. It identifies contradictory page data and a nonworking buying action among the issues to inspect. They do not diagnose an uninspected account or prove that a product can be fulfilled. ## Start with the affected variant Save the issue wording, item identifier, submitted product address, and current submitted status. Record the size, color, configuration, and destination relevant to the example. Ask the catalog owner to confirm whether the store is accepting orders for that exact item. Keep that answer dated. Do not use another variant's stock to justify the affected item's public status. Open the submitted address without changing its initial selection. Record which variant appears. Give an incorrect initial selection to the maintainer as a separate defect. ## Compare the four availability surfaces Request current evidence from the account manager and website maintainer: | Surface | Evidence to retain | | --- | --- | | Submitted product data | Affected item and final availability value | | Public product page | Selected variant and visible status | | Structured data | Availability attached to the matching offer | | Cart and checkout | Whether the same item remains purchasable | Keep the current inventory record beside the comparison. Ask which system publishes each displayed value. Avoid changing every status field before identifying the disagreement. If the product is unavailable, have the store owner approve the correct selling status. If it is available, require the maintainer to demonstrate the agreed purchase path in a controlled environment. ## Check the buying action and location conditions Google's guidance says availability should be visible without requiring a postcode first. It also warns about availability changes based on IP detection and calls for a functioning buying action. Keep supported regional configurations distinct from a page that unexpectedly changes its status between visitors. Record whether adding the item to the cart preserves the selected variant. If checkout rejects it, save the actual message and last confirmed step. Stop before a real order unless the owner arranges that test. ## Reconstruct the update sequence Ask when inventory changed, when the website updated, and when the submitted product data refreshed. Request actual timestamps or logs from the responsible systems. Leave an unknown update interval unresolved. Compare the generated markup with the visible page after the same update. If one remains old, ask which component produced it. Avoid attributing the problem to a cache or connector without evidence. Write the repair around the controlling source. Include the affected field, approved value, publishing system, and acceptance case. Require the correction to survive the next normal update. ## Recheck the original failure and a second variant Repeat the original item and selection after repair. Compare all four surfaces again. Include another affected variant when the repair changes a shared template or mapping. Keep the website result separate from the account's later review or approval. Record anything still pending.
