Confirm the person represented, obtain NAR's official artwork, and check its spacing, readable wording, and link behavior. NAR licenses members to use its marks within specified limits. The term identifies membership and cannot substitute for the occupation of real estate agent. For your bio or about page, prepare the checks below alongside your service explanation and contact destination. These are website recommendations. They do not establish that a logo increases seller or buyer inquiries. This article is not legal advice. ## Confirm whose membership the page identifies Ask your association to confirm your current membership before approving the mark. Record the person, date checked, and confirmation source in your website brief. Give the builder only the approved public identity. Affiliation with a member firm does not give a nonmember permission to place REALTOR® beside their own name. NAR's manual states that restriction expressly. It also says the marks do not designate licensed status. On a small-team website, check each individual profile separately. Keep an unresolved person's mark out of the proposed layout. Send firm-wide uses to the broker and association for their own review. Maintain the membership confirmation separately from state licensing and brokerage affiliation. Assign someone to review the affected pages when any of those facts changes. ## Use the official block-R artwork Download the asset from NAR's logo page. It provides blue, black, and transparent versions, including files for web use. Preserve the complete design, relative proportions, and spacing. NAR requires clear space around every side equal to half the block-R width. Its guidance calls for a contrasting single color and adequate background contrast. Ask them to show the mark on the actual page background. Reject a preview that crops the wording, stretches the artwork, or places another object inside the required clear space. NAR says the transparent version appears white or blank without a solid-color background. When reducing the logo, its elements must remain readable with their proportions and spacing intact. Check the header, bio, footer, and any reused profile card. Keep the mark distinct from the brokerage logo and your personal brand artwork. Record where each copy appears so the editor can update it later. ## Check the text beside your name For ordinary page text, NAR's member-name rules require capital letters and punctuation separating the mark from the member's name. NAR's preferred form includes the registered trademark symbol: REALTOR®. Review headings, captions, contact blocks, and reusable biography text. Replace occupational uses with the accurate role description. Ask the association to resolve uncertain wording before supplying the final copy. Domain and internet-address exceptions are narrower. NAR permits lowercase letters and omitting separating punctuation there, subject to its membership and naming rules. That exception does not establish permission for lowercase biography text. Have the builder inspect whether a clickable header or surrounding card makes the mark part of a link. Check the actual destination. Do not use the mark itself to open your contact form or an unrelated vendor page. Provide a separate, clearly labeled buyer or seller contact action. Name the receiving agent or team beside it. Explain your actual representation services in text before inviting a question. Keep membership identification and the service invitation independently readable. ## Review brokerage identification and nearby claims separately The membership-mark check does not approve your brokerage or team naming. As a Texas example, TREC requires advertising to identify the license holder or team and broker. Its rules also address team-name registration and misleading claims of transaction involvement. Obtain the applicable source before publishing team or brokerage names, claims about who sold a property, or sold prices. Check MLS permissions and client approval separately. The Texas example grants no national permission to display those details. Keep designation and award badges in separate approval records. Before including one, obtain its issuer's own current eligibility and artwork rules. Record the source and check date. If testimonials appear nearby, send the combined presentation for broker and legal review. Endorsements must reflect honest experiences and avoid deceptive claims. Unexpected material connections can require disclosure. [FTC Endorsement Guides, 16 CFR §§ 255.1 and 255.5, checked 2026.10.14](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/chapter-I/subchapter-B/part-255). The FTC explains that featuring testimonials on your own website disseminates advertising; fake or false testimonials can create liability. The Consumer Review Fairness Act restricts standardized contract clauses suppressing honest reviews, penalizing reviewers, or requiring transfer of review rights, with exceptions. A correctly displayed membership mark does not resolve a neighboring claim. ## Accept the page against a written checklist The membership-mark checklist identifies verified eligibility, official artwork, and approved placement.
