Confirm who controls each number and how the business retains access if a provider changes. Use a written routing sheet before adding or replacing numbers. Keep website, profile, campaign, and after-hours routes distinguishable. A click count should remain separate from a connected customer conversation. The checks below are proposed acceptance requirements. They report no current phone-system result. ## Inventory the numbers and destinations Ask the owner and maintainer to list the business numbers shown on the site. Include the footer, estimate pages, downloadable brochures, and mobile contact controls. Record which number appears under each intended source condition. Have the office identify the receiving destination. Keep a separate row for an answering service or after-hours route if the business uses one. Avoid treating access to a report as proof of control over the number. ## Review profile numbers independently Google says a Business Profile phone number must be under the business's direct control. Its guidelines call for a number connecting to the individual business location and reject referrals to another business. Have the authorized profile manager review any proposed tracking arrangement against those rules. Confirm which business the caller reaches before requesting an edit. Save the current public number and proposed change. Record the manager's actual edit separately from the website work. Keep the business's recovery plan in the handoff record. ## Test displayed numbers and call links Ask the maintainer to compare visible digits with the underlying telephone link. Require them to agree under each approved source condition. RFC 3966 defines the tel URI scheme for resources identified by telephone numbers. Keep the displayed number readable for someone who wants to copy it. Avoid making a successful button press the only acceptance criterion. Arrange any real call test with the receiving office first. Use a marked test and stop after confirming the route and approved handling. ## Define what the report measures Name each event according to its evidence. Distinguish a telephone-link click, an observed connection, and a qualified project question. Ask the reporting owner how source labels are assigned and how unknown sources appear. Keep unavailable information unknown. Avoid attributing every call to the last page a reporting tool happened to observe. If recording or transcription is proposed, give it a separate consent, privacy, and access review before activation. Keep that decision outside an ordinary number-change request. ## Retest during provider changes Require the handoff sheet to name the person controlling number retention, billing, and routing. Obtain the actual provider process before cancelling an account. Repeat the approved call checks after a website or phone-provider change.
