Check the export first Mem documents importing Markdown and plain-text files. Notion documents exporting ordinary pages as Markdown and databases as CSV. That provides a route for compatible notes, with separate work for database content and attachments. It does not establish a complete Notion workspace migration. Preserve the export and check each record type before treating Mem as the new business record. Primary documentation was checked on 2026.10.22. No account import was performed. ## Use the documented file route Notion's export guide offers Markdown and CSV. Its workspace export cannot instantly recreate the original workspace through reimport. [Notion export documentation, checked 2026.10.22](https://www.notion.com/help/export-your-content). Mem's import guide says to export notes as Markdown, open Imports from the profile menu, and add the Markdown files. It also documents plain-text support and says zipped exports should be unpacked first. [Mem import documentation, checked 2026.10.22](https://help.mem.ai/features/imports). Use copies of harmless sample notes first. Retain the original export unchanged. Compare the imported title and text against the source before moving a larger collection. ## Separate notes from database structure A database exported as CSV is not a Markdown note. Mem's documented importer does not list CSV as a direct input format. Do not assume database views, formulas, relations, permissions, or automations become equivalent Mem features. If a database entry needs to become a note, define the conversion explicitly. Retain its source identifier and field names. Record any field that cannot be represented. This is a proposed conversion method. A successful text import does not prove the referenced files arrived. ## Keep attachments under controlled access Inventory attached files before migration. Keep each original with a stable source identifier and a permitted storage location. Repair links using copies of synthetic documents first. Check links as the intended reader. A working link on the migrating owner's account does not prove shared access. Do not make private material public to make a link resolve. Keep a list of missing attachments and broken references. Mark those notes incomplete until corrected. ## Verify before changing the authoritative record Choose a sample containing a plain note, a linked note, a database-derived record, and a note with an attachment. Record source counts and identifiers. After import, compare every sampled title and body. Open the linked files. Ask Mem to answer a harmless question from the imported material and inspect the supporting note. Then correct a source fact and repeat the check using the process intended for ongoing updates. An export-and-import route should not be described as live synchronization without evidence. Keep duplicates in a review list. Do not delete the original workspace or the export during this test. ## Retain an exit record Save the export, conversion rules, import date, exception list, and completed verification. Keep the accepted business decisions in a readable format you can recover elsewhere. This route can move compatible note text. A full migration is complete only when the business can find its records, open its files, apply corrections, and recover its sources.
