Record what each page offers, how its title describes it, and whether its indexing instructions match your intention. Give your builder a worksheet with actual page addresses. Keep summaries separate from access and indexing decisions. A description explains a page. A robots instruction can affect whether Google shows it in search. ## Distinguish the fields in the proposal Google documents which meta tags it supports. It states that the meta-keywords tag has no effect on Google indexing or ranking. Do not treat filling a hidden keyword list as a completed SEO project. The page title is a separate HTML element, although a supplier may group it with meta-tag work. A site-wide setting can be useful as a default, but review the important pages individually. ## Write titles from the actual page Google recommends descriptive, concise title text. It can use several sources to generate a search title link, so the text you supply does not guarantee an exact display. For a hypothetical electrical contractor, a title such as “Panel installation: scope and estimate requests” should describe a page that contains those details. Use the business's approved service name. Do not add places the company does not serve. Check for titles left over from an old template, service, or location. Give pages with different purposes titles that reflect those differences. Keep promotional claims out unless the business can support them. ## Treat descriptions as summaries Google primarily creates search snippets from page content and may use a meta description when it is a better summary. Write a description that answers what the visitor will find. Include a relevant service boundary or next step when useful. Keep it consistent with the visible text. Avoid repeating a list of towns or variations of the same keyword. Ask an unfamiliar reader whether the summary would help them choose this page over another page on your site. It also explains that a crawler must be allowed to access a page to discover its robots instructions. Resolve conflicting instructions in the implementation brief. Do not copy a staging site's settings into production without checking their purpose. Do not use the metadata worksheet as a security design. ## Verify the page-level result Save the requested values and the builder's published-page evidence together. Compare the actual title and description with the approved worksheet. Check the relevant page version rather than relying on an editor screenshot. After publication, record any observed differences in search display separately. Do not describe a changed search title as proof that the builder ignored the brief.
