Label a manufacturer part number, GTIN, and internal reference according to what each value represents. Keep identifiers consistent with the actual product and variant. Google describes an MPN as a Manufacturer Part Number identifying a specific product among products from the same manufacturer. Its GTIN guidance concerns Global Trade Item Numbers. This brief helps prepare product information. It assigns no identifier and verifies no particular product listing. ## Name the authoritative product record Ask the product owner which record supplies each identifier. Confirm the item, variant, brand where applicable, and current public description. Keep an internal stock reference distinct from a manufacturer-assigned identifier unless the responsible owner confirms the relationship. Avoid placing a convenient warehouse value into a different field solely to complete a template. Resolve conflicting references before publication. Preserve the old value internally when needed for the company's established record process. Carry the selected product and variant into the inquiry. Keep the buyer's original reference when it differs from your current catalog. Let the team investigate an uncertain or older reference.
