Check the complete website presentation before publishing the wording. Keep a company location separate from a claim about a product's origin. The FTC's guidance applies an all-or-virtually-all standard to unqualified Made in USA claims. It requires U.S. final assembly or processing, every significant processing step in the United States, and all or virtually all ingredients or components made and sourced there. Use the workflow below to prepare an evidence packet for the person responsible for your origin claims. A web designer should receive approved wording and product scope. ## Inventory every place the claim appears List the homepage, product pages, family pages, footer, badges, images, captions, and downloadable documents. Include shared templates that repeat the wording. Capture the proposed or existing presentation. Record whether it describes one item, a product family, the company, or a manufacturing step. Keep the source and reviewer with each entry. The FTC warns that express and implied claims count. Its guidance includes U.S. symbols and imagery as possible origin messages, depending on context. Do not assume that removing a phrase resolves the message of the whole page. ## Assemble product-specific support Have the responsible business owner identify the current substantiation. Keep supplier and manufacturing records in the appropriate private system. The public website needs the approved claim, not an uncontrolled copy of those records. Ask the reviewer for the exact permitted wording and placements. Do not shorten a qualified statement into a broader badge caption. Keep a product-specific decision from becoming a sitewide footer claim. If the approved claim covers a manufacturing step, describe that step accurately. Avoid turning it into a statement about every component or every operation. ## Define a change process before launch The FTC says companies must keep claims and substantiation accurate and update marketing when their support changes. Keep the website placement list with that responsibility.
