Start with the wrong field on the public listing. Find the source and correction route you can verify. Do not assume every directory, search result, and website uses the same data feed. ## Understand why one edit may leave other facts unchanged Google says Business Profile information can come from official websites, licensed third-party data, user contributions, and Google's interactions with a business. It does not establish that a particular aggregator supplies your listing or that buying a service will control Google's final display. Use “data aggregator” as a question about distribution. Ask a proposed provider to document where it sends information, which fields it supports, and how a destination handles corrections. ## Prepare one approved business fact sheet Record the current public business name, phone, website, business hours, and appropriate address or service-area information. Assign an owner to approve changes. Keep this sheet limited to facts you intend to publish. Do not send a home address to a distribution service merely because its form has an address field. Google's representation guidance requires accurate business information and distinguishes how businesses represent their locations and service areas. A general fact sheet is a reference for the work, not permission to publish every field everywhere. ## Inventory the errors you can observe Use this proposed correction register: | Field | What to retain | | --- | --- | | Public destination | Exact profile or page address | | Wrong information | Field and observed value | | Approved correction | Value checked by the business owner | | Correction route | Direct claim, support request, or documented provider route | | Submission evidence | Date and reference where available | | Public recheck | Date, observed value, and unresolved difference | Start with destinations customers use and errors that affect contact or visits. Record duplicate profiles separately from ordinary field edits. Do not count a submitted correction as a publicly verified correction. Keep both dates when the destination changes later. ## Ask the provider for a destination-level scope Require the exact network or destination list for the proposed service. Ask which fields are supported at each destination and what exceptions apply. Have the provider distinguish direct account management, submission through another company, and monitoring without editing authority. Request a defined process for errors that return after a correction. Avoid a promise such as “fixed everywhere” unless the provider defines everywhere and supplies the checks.
