Then configure the wrapper, search links, and visitor controls. IDX Broker documents the installation and account connection in its [WordPress installation guide, updated April 22, 2025](https://support.idxbroker.com/hc/en-us/articles/34490380667547-Installing-the-WordPress-Plugin). Accept the finished setup only after a buyer can search, open a property, and send an inquiry to the intended recipient. Test your seller contact page separately. The checklist below is a proposed acceptance method for your website provider. All linked vendor documentation was checked on October 14, 2026. Confirm the instructions against your installed version before changing an existing website. ## Confirm MLS approval before treating search as ready Open **MLS** in your IDX Broker account. Its feed table separates active-data approval from sold-data approval. **Active** means the feed is approved and enabled. **Processing** means approval remains underway; **Action Required** means an outstanding item needs attention. An activated account can still have MLS approval pending. IDX Broker explains that it provides tools for integration before approval finishes. Its getting-started guide also describes an access code for previewing search during that period. IDX Broker's guide describes preparing the wrapper and search entry point, then notifying its MLS team. Record each required feed and its approval status in your website brief. MLS display rules vary by MLS. Confirm permitted inventory, attribution, disclaimers, and the proposed website address with your MLS and IDX vendor. Keep pending approval separate from a plugin fault. ## Install the plugin and connect your existing API key IDX Broker's installation guide gives this sequence. Use the account holder's authorized access or have your website provider perform it. Search for **IDX Broker** and select **IMPress for IDX Broker**. 3. Click **Install Now**, then **Activate**. 4. Open **IMPress → General Settings**. 5. In your IDX Broker account, open **Home → Access Control**. 6. Copy the existing API key into the plugin's API-key field. 7. Click **Refresh Plugin Options**. Use the existing key when it is available. Generating another key replaces the previous one; revoking it prevents connected tools from accessing the API. The key grants account-specific access, rather than unrestricted access to the MLS database. Exclude it from public page content and support screenshots. Vendor screen labels differ across guides. The installation article says **General Settings**. The newer troubleshooting article uses **IMPress → Initial Settings** for **Refresh Plugin Options**. Match the available screen to your installed version. IDX Broker's getting-started guide recommends a dynamic wrapper so header and footer changes can carry through. The vendor's preferred WordPress method is to create a page, add its IDX wrapper block, and publish it. Copy that page's URL. In IDX Broker, open **Design → Website → Wrapper → Global**. Select **Dynamic**, paste the URL, and save. The source page must be published and live for IDX Broker to use it. Ask your builder to demonstrate a search page and a property page with the intended header, footer, and navigation. Check the seller-service link from those pages too. Keep detailed wrapper customization outside this initial setup checklist. ## Add a search destination and an optional search bar In IDX Broker, open **Design → Website → Page Templates**. Copy the **Advanced Search** page URL and add it to your website navigation. This uses the account's generated search page. For an embedded search bar, the vendor supplies an Omnibar shortcode. Its documentation gives this example for a page builder's shortcode block or widget: ```text [idx-omnibar styles="1" extra="0" min_price="0"] ``` That example uses default styling without the additional price, bedroom, and bathroom controls. Confirm available search fields in your account before selecting alternatives. The plugin also supports IDX widgets in theme widget areas and IDX page links in custom menus. [WordPress plugin guide, updated April 22, 2025](https://support.idxbroker.com/hc/en-us/articles/34490372269723-WordPress-Plugin). Ask the builder to use the method your theme and editor support. Open the search destination directly and through the menu. Then repeat from the embedded bar, if included. Require the selected location and filters to reach the expected results before adding more widgets. ## Diagnose missing pages before rebuilding the website When IDX pages fail to appear, the vendor's troubleshooting sequence checks scheduled tasks and outbound API requests. It identifies the page-creation event as commonly **idx_create_idx_pages**. It uses WP Crontrol to inspect that event and Query Monitor to inspect HTTP API calls. Have your developer capture the failed request and error before changing settings. The same guide identifies certificate problems, blocked outbound requests, timeouts, and hosting restrictions as possible causes. Assign the repair from that evidence. Repeat the search test after the change. ## Accept buyer and seller inquiries separately Agree on expected recipients before testing. Use marked test messages and contact details you control. These are proposed checks, not results from a tested IDX Broker account. | Visitor task | Evidence to retain | | --- | --- | | Open property search from the homepage | Starting URL, destination URL, and working navigation on phone and desktop. | | Search for an available location | Chosen criteria and the resulting listing page. | | Open a property directly | Property URL, readable details, and locally approved attribution and disclaimers. | | Ask about that property | Matching received inquiry with the property reference, reply details, and intended recipient. | | Ask about selling | Separate seller-page submission and matching receipt at the agreed destination. | | Return to the agent's services | Working navigation from search and property pages to the relevant service page. | Mark a missing or misdirected inquiry as a failed check. Record who repairs it and repeat the same submission after the repair.
