Preserve the evidence, identify the affected accounts, and agree on containment before resuming ordinary website work. A suspicious search result needs investigation. Keep the observed warning or unfamiliar page separate from a confirmed diagnosis. Use the record below to brief the people responsible for recovery. ## Capture the problem without exploring unsafe pages. Save the affected URL, observation time, displayed warning, and reporting source. Ask the technical responder to collect relevant logs and account changes. Keep an original record before cleanup alters the evidence. Google's Security issues report describes detected hacking, malware, and deceptive behavior. It can include affected-page examples. Ask the responder to inspect the site through appropriate diagnostic methods. Avoid opening suspected malicious pages to see whether they still work. Google's guidance offers URL Inspection and command-line retrieval as alternatives for investigating injected content. Identify who controls hosting, the domain, the website software, Search Console, and inquiry delivery. Ask that person to coordinate access with the responder. Keep passwords and recovery codes out of the public work brief. Record unfamiliar accounts or access changes for investigation. Ask the responder to determine which access should be revoked and how control will be retained. Preserve an account-change record before making corrections. Use a written work boundary. Define containment, investigation, cleanup, access review, and restoration as explicit tasks. Name who can authorize a temporary shutdown or recovery from backup. ## Separate cleanup from routine maintenance. Ask the responder to explain the affected files, account changes, entry point, and remaining uncertainty. Require the recovery plan to address recurrence as well as the visible page problem. Keep the cleanup owner's findings attached to that record. Do not accept a changed homepage as the only completion check. Ask which pages and account surfaces were inspected. Record excluded systems and unresolved findings so the business owner can assess them. ## Define the return-to-service checks. Start with the site functions that matter to the visitor. Review identity, service pages, property destinations, contact actions, and any downloads. Ask the technical responder to determine when those checks are safe to perform. Keep that result separate from the security findings. A working form alone does not complete the recovery review. ## Request Google's review after the listed fixes. Google instructs owners to fix every listed security issue, test the fixes, and then request review through the Security issues report. It asks for an explanation of the issue, repairs, and outcomes. Keep Google's review decision separate from the responder's cleanup report.
