What to check Google reviews can take time to appear. Google's help page says policy checks can sometimes take a few days. A missing review alone does not establish why it is absent. [Google missing or delayed reviews guidance, checked 2026.10.23](https://support.google.com/business/answer/10313341?hl=en). Start with the correct business profile and a dated observation. Avoid promising a customer that a review will appear by a particular hour. ## Record what is missing Separate three situations: a customer says they submitted a review, a review appeared and later disappeared, or a review is visible on Google but absent from your website component. Use this proposed record: | Field | What to record | | --- | --- | | Business profile | Exact public profile link and location | | Customer report | Approximate submission date and what they observed | | Your observation | Date, surface checked, and visible result | | Recent changes | Known profile merge, reinstatement, or website integration change | | Supporting material | Customer-supplied screenshot with unnecessary private details removed | | Next action | Recheck, provider investigation, or Google support request | Keep an unconfirmed cause marked unknown. Do not infer that an account was blocked from a missing public review. ## Check the profile before checking the website widget Confirm that the customer used the intended location. Compare any supplied link with the public profile your business uses for review requests. If the review appears on the public profile, give the website provider that evidence. Ask it to inspect its selected data source, location identifier, refresh method, and failure handling. Keep them in separate support requests until evidence connects them. ## Check known profile changes Google says merged profiles may need a few days before reviews from both profiles display. It also notes that reviews can be missing after a profile is reinstated and provides a support route. Do not select one of these explanations because it sounds plausible. Ask the person who manages the profile to check recent changes. Keep the date and support reference together. Avoid making unrelated profile edits while trying to establish what changed. ## Keep review requests within policy Do not ask the customer to post repeated copies or create more accounts as a troubleshooting method. Keep the original report and use the relevant support route. Google prohibits paid or incentivized reviews and selective requests for positive feedback. Remove rewards, suggested ratings, or demands for particular phrases. Request an honest account of the customer's experience. Supply only relevant evidence. Keep private customer records out of public community posts. Use Google's support path when the documented situation calls for it. Preserve the request reference and response. Do not label a case resolved until the expected review is visible or support provides a clear outcome.
