Managing reviews for a profile you control and displaying place information on a public website require different decisions. Before hiring a developer or buying a widget, write down whether you need staff review management, public display, or both. Ask the provider to identify its exact Google product and endpoint. ## Separate management from public display Google's Business Profile documentation describes operations to list reviews, retrieve a review, and manage replies for a business location. For public place information, Google's Place Details documentation includes ratings and reviews among available response data. A request uses a place identifier and a field mask. Require the developer to explain which one supports each requested feature. They do not establish that a particular account already has access. ## Confirm access before commissioning the interface Google's Business Profile prerequisites require a Cloud project and an API access request. The published requirements include managing a verified profile active for at least sixty days and a website representing the business. Ask who owns the project, who can revoke access, and how credentials stay outside public website files. Keep public replies behind an agreed approval step. A dashboard demonstration should use a labeled test or a read-only example until a specific public action is authorized. ## Specify the public review display Agree which location the website represents. Require the provider to explain which reviews its chosen endpoint returns. Avoid calling the display a complete archive unless that claim has been checked against the source's documented behavior. Google's Places API policies cover attribution and restrictions on caching or storing content. They also set requirements for displaying review author information. Have the developer document applicable storage and refresh behavior. Do not copy review content into a permanent website database merely because a widget can fetch it. ## Agree costs and failure behavior in writing Ask the provider to identify billable products, requested fields, usage assumptions, and any widget subscription. Obtain current provider terms during scoping. This article quotes no API or vendor price. Decide what the page shows when the request fails or returns no review content. A useful fallback might provide a clearly labeled link to the business's public profile. Agree its wording and destination before launch. Separate review availability from inquiry delivery.
