Updating the website address in Admin is one part of the migration. Google documents editing the existing web stream's name and URL. It separately documents adding the Analytics code that collects data. Treat configuration and collection as separate checks. Use this proposed checklist with your website maintainer. No Analytics account or live website was changed for this article. ## Record the existing measurement arrangement. Before changing settings, record the current domain, property, web stream, measurement ID, installation method, and person with access. Keep account credentials out of the project brief. List the pages and actions that matter: seller service, property inquiry, contact page, and any separate listing-search destination. Name the receiving system for each inquiry. Ask whether the same business and reporting purpose continue after the move. Have the Analytics owner document the chosen property and stream arrangement. Keep that decision separate from a routine edit to the displayed website URL. Save the current reporting definitions and a dated baseline. Record changes to forms, content, or campaign destinations alongside the domain change. ## Update the web stream URL in the correct property. Google's documented route is Admin, Data collection and modification, then Data streams. Open the web stream and edit its details. The guide requires Editor access or above at the property level. Confirm that permission before scheduling the change. Have the maintainer compare the selected property and stream with your recorded measurement ID. Save the new URL and change date in the private project record. Avoid deleting an account, property, or stream as part of this address update. Ask the responsible owner to explain any separate proposed structural change. ## Verify the tag on the replacement website. Google's setup documentation distinguishes creating a property, adding a stream, and adding the Analytics code. Ask the maintainer to show how the agreed tag is installed on the new website. Do not use a collected event as the only evidence of delivery. ## Review separate property-search domains. Cross-domain measurement concerns journeys across more than one domain. Google's site-move guidance recommends mapping old URLs to their new destinations and using permanent server-side redirects where possible.
