Record each public page, the details it shows, and whether the business controls its account. Separate confirmed errors from unverified matches. For this worksheet, a citation means an online mention of the business and identifying information such as its address or phone number. The immediate task is an accurate inventory, with a next action for each found page. ## Prepare the business's current record Ask the owner to approve the current public name, website, phone number, and location information. Record former names and contact details separately so you can recognize old entries during the search. Keep the current record in one working sheet. Add a date and the responsible reviewer. Do not assume the first directory result has the correct information. Search for the business name with its town, current phone number, and website address. Repeat with known former details when relevant. Open candidate pages and check the identity before recording them as the business's listings. ## Distinguish existing citations from opportunities Whitespark's Local Citation Finder page describes discovering business mentions and comparing competitors' citations with a business's existing citations. A tool's summary can help prioritize inspection, but retain the page evidence behind a proposed correction. ## Investigate uncertain matches A similar name in another town may belong to another business. An old branch may require a different correction from a duplicate entry. Mark the match unresolved until the owner confirms the history. Keep the old address or phone in the investigation notes when it explains the connection. Avoid changing an unrelated business's entry to make a report look complete. For Google profiles, ask the responsible account owner to review the actual profile history and platform instructions before taking action. Do not accept a total submission count as evidence that every public page is correct. ## Prioritize corrections your customers need Start the proposed repair list with confirmed errors in contact details, website destinations, or current operating information. Assign the appropriate account owner and define how each correction will be verified. Open the page again after the provider reports completion. Compare it with the approved record and save the check date. Retain any remaining discrepancy as an open item.
