Request the current export instructions and an account-specific access deadline. Obtain the permitted file, inspect it, then test where your own website will send its next seller or buyer inquiry. Before you act, read your own independent contractor agreement and any team agreement, and confirm the terms with your brokerage in writing. Ask how the file will be delivered and whether its download expires. ## Confirm which contacts the request covers Make a list of the contact groups you intend to request. Distinguish contacts you entered, inquiries from your own website, shared contacts, and team or brokerage records. For each group, ask whether export and retention are permitted. If permission is unresolved, keep that group outside the approved transfer until you receive an answer. Ask what supporting record the administrator needs. Treat access to a record and permission to retain it as separate questions. Request a written answer for shared and team records. Avoid assuming that every visible contact belongs in your departure file. Ask when your Compass login, CRM access, and associated mailbox access end. Fill in the account details privately. > I am preparing for a brokerage change. Please confirm which contacts I may export and retain from my account, including inquiries from my own website. Identify any shared, team, or brokerage records excluded from that permission. > > Please provide the current export instructions, required permissions, available file format, delivery method, and last date I can retrieve the file. Confirm whether notes, tags, source details, communication history, consent records, and opt-out information are included or need separate requests. > > Please also identify who can confirm my website's present inquiry destination and the access deadline for that receiving account. I need to inspect the permitted export and test the replacement destination before the handoff. This is a suggested request, not a Compass form. Keep the reply with your departure plan. Ask the responsible person to mark each unanswered item explicitly. ## Inspect the file before calling the export complete Save the original export in approved business storage. Use a copy for inspection and cleanup. Record the export date, approved selection, file format, and any stated exclusions. Compare the file with representative permitted source records while access remains available. Include an active seller, an active buyer, and a record with notes where available.
