# CoreLogic Trestle: prepare the feed for your real estate website

Trestle is a real estate data distribution platform, currently presented by Cotality. It manages licensing and access to data used by brokers and technology providers. Its Trestle RESO service offers standardized feeds, including IDX. [Cotality's Trestle overview, checked 2026.10.14](https://www.cotality.com/products/trestle).

For your own website, start by asking who holds the approved connection and who turns its records into property pages. Require a handoff that names the MLS, feed type, developer, and inquiry recipient. Then test a property question through to its received message.

The brief and acceptance checks below are recommendations for commissioning website work. Use them with your existing provider before deciding whether the connection needs replacement.

## Who requests and approves the Trestle connection?

Trestle's FAQ directs users to create a Technology Provider account, or a Broker account where appropriate. The dashboard's “ADD MLO CONNECTION” action begins the data request. MLO means multiple listing organization. [Trestle account and connection guidance, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/support/faq/).

Ask your website provider whether it already holds the connection needed for your domain. If a new request is necessary, name the company submitting it. Have your broker confirm the proposed use and its approval responsibilities.

Trestle facilitates the license between the data consumer and the listing organization. Its dashboard collects contract signatures and authorization for the MLS license fee. Cotality is not a party to that data license. [Trestle licensing explanation, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/support/faq/).

Keep a dated connection record with the website brief:

| Detail | What to obtain from the responsible party |
| --- | --- |
| MLS source | Exact organization and approved coverage |
| Intended use | Public website address and requested listing-search function |
| Account holder | Broker or technology provider responsible for the connection |
| Feed type | Requested product and feed, with approval status |
| Licensing | Required signatories, completed signatures, and unresolved requests |
| Billing | Approved connection and licensing charges, with the payer named |
| Maintenance | Developer, support contact, and responsibility at provider exit |

MLS display rules vary by MLS. [MLS Grid's IDX Rules, updated 2026.09.17 and checked 2026.10.14](https://www.mlsgrid.com/s/MLS-Grid-IDX-Rules.pdf).

Confirm attribution, permitted fields, photos, statuses, and removal requirements with your MLS and IDX vendor. Ask for their current rules and a review of the proposed pages.

## Does changing the feed require a new connection?

Trestle ties credentials to a product and feed type. Its FAQ says adding or replacing a feed type requires a new MLS connection because contracts specify that type. [Trestle feed and credential guidance, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/support/faq/).

Before approving a change, ask the provider to identify the current and proposed connections. Record which approval, license, and credentials each requires. Request a written sequence for testing the replacement before ending the existing service.

The FAQ separates a Trestle platform fee from an MLS license fee. It says connection charges can be reviewed before activation. Obtain the current charges for your actual arrangement and confirm how your provider bills them. [Trestle fee explanation, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/support/faq/).

Keep those charges beside the website quote. Ask who pays for each connection and who handles cancellation. Leave unconfirmed costs unresolved in the brief.

## Which Trestle resources belong in the website handoff?

The documentation groups records into resources. Use the relevant resource references to ask your developer what the authorized connection supplies:

| Resource | Documented role or identifier | Website question to resolve |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Property | Listing records use `ListingKey` as their unique identifier. [Property reference, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/metadata/resources/Property/) | Which approved fields populate search cards and property pages? |
| Media | `ResourceRecordKey` relates media to its source record; `MediaURL` identifies the media file. [Media reference, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/metadata/resources/Media/) | How will the developer match permitted images to the correct property? |
| Member | Member records use `MemberKey` and include member identity fields. [Member reference, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/metadata/resources/Member/) | Which supplied member details are authorized for display? |
| Office | Office records use `OfficeKey` and include brokerage information. [Office reference, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/metadata/resources/Office/) | Which approved brokerage details must appear beside the listing? |

Ask the developer to record the resources and fields available through your approved connection. Have your MLS and IDX vendor confirm which belong in the public display. Treat the reference table as a handoff aid, without assuming every documented field is populated or approved for your website.

Trestle recommends `ListingId` for familiar display and `ListingKey` for identifying records across Trestle. It does not guarantee that `ListingId` is unique across MLSs. [Trestle identifier guidance, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/support/faq/).

Require the property inquiry to carry the displayed listing number, source, page address, and internal listing key. Ask the developer to show that the search card, detail page, and received question refer to the same record.

## What should the developer document before switching the website?

Trestle's WebAPI guide uses OAuth2 client credentials for authentication. It then retrieves the connection's resource description from `/trestle/odata/$metadata`. [Trestle WebAPI setup, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/web-api/).

Request a connection record containing the current endpoint, documentation address, approved feed, and maintenance owner. Transfer private credentials through an agreed secure method. Keep secrets out of the public website, inquiry forms, and ordinary project brief.

Ask the developer to demonstrate credential renewal and inspect browser-visible requests for disclosure. Require a clear error state when search is unavailable. Keep a usable buyer contact route and seller inquiry page in that state.

The WebAPI guide documents separate quotas for API queries and public media requests, with limits for each minute and hour. [Trestle quota guidance, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/web-api/).

Have the developer record the limits returned for the approved connection. Ask how the implementation handles quota responses and recovery. Agree who investigates failures after handover.

For a migration, request a comparison using the same approved properties in both versions. Check coverage, status, images, identifiers, and inquiry destinations. Include an approved status-change or removal case. Keep the old and proposed property addresses in the migration record.

Trestle publishes a release timeline with changes to fields and lookup values. [Trestle release timeline, checked 2026.10.14](https://trestle-documentation.corelogic.com/home/release-timeline/).

Ask the maintenance owner to review relevant changes and repeat affected website checks. Record the metadata review date and any unsupported field or filter before acceptance.

## Test a buyer question and a seller inquiry separately

Agree on these checks before the work begins. Use marked test submissions and contact details you control.

| Visitor task | Evidence to retain |
| --- | --- |
| Find a property | Approved source, search criteria, matching result, and property page |
| Inspect its details | Correct status, permitted images, and reviewed attribution on phone and desktop |
| Ask about the property | Received question, reply details, listing reference, source, and page address |
| Ask about selling | Separate seller submission and matching receipt at the agreed destination |
| Encounter a feed failure | Agreed error message, working contact route, and observed recovery |
| Reopen an old property address | Agreed destination and usable inquiry route after migration |

Name the intended recipient before testing. Compare submitted values with the message received. Record delivery failures and missing property context as unfinished work, then repeat the same checks after repair.

Keep seller services and their contact destination in the website scope. Require the seller test even while a feed approval remains pending. These checks establish observed website behavior; they forecast no inquiry volume or sales.

## Bring the connection record into the whole website fix

Your Trestle record names the account holder, feed type, and outstanding approval. Bring the connection requirements to [whole website fix: Trestle approval records](/for/real-estate). The whole website fix opens support tickets for feeds awaiting board approval.
