Put the budget toward asking real customers for honest feedback and fixing the contact process around it. Keep review administration separate from purchasing praise. A provider may help prepare a request or organize approved replies. Require the proposal to describe those tasks without supplying invented customers or scripted endorsements. ## Check what the offer promises Read the deliverables before accepting a reputation service. Identify whether you are paying for administrative work or for a quantity of positive public reviews. Use these proposed screening questions: - Who will write each review, and what experience will it describe? - Is payment tied to a positive rating or sentiment? - Will real customers receive a neutral request? - Does the workflow exclude unhappy customers from public review requests? - Who approves any reply posted in the business's name? - Which platform policy supports the proposed method? If the provider cannot explain where the experiences come from, stop the purchase and ask for a revised scope. ## Separate legal rules from platform rules The FTC's guidance says its rule addresses fake or false reviews and compensation conditioned on a particular review sentiment. It also explains that agencies and review brokers can have obligations under the rule. The FTC guidance is not permission to use a method prohibited by the review platform. Check the platform's current rules for the exact activity. Do not apply Google's rules to Facebook or assume both interfaces work alike. Google prohibits paid or incentivized reviews and selective requests for positive reviews. Require an honest experience without directing what the customer must say. For a Facebook workflow, have the provider supply the current platform policy for its proposed activity before approval. ## Brief an honest request process Decide which real customer event makes a request appropriate. Apply the same business-defined eligibility rule without selecting people by predicted rating. Record who checks the request wording. A proposed message is: > Thank you for choosing our business. If you would like to share your experience, please leave an honest review using the link below. Add the checked destination yourself. Do not insert a star rating, claimed outcome, reward, or text for the customer to copy. Keep the choice voluntary. Before using a link in website copy, verify the business and location it opens. Keep private problem reporting available alongside public feedback without making a private survey a gate to the public review link. ## Define what a provider may do Ask the provider to prepare neutral request wording, confirm links, document the workflow, and draft replies from approved facts. Keep public sends and replies behind your agreed approval process. For reporting, separate requests prepared, requests sent, public reviews observed, and customer issues resolved. Assign a recipient and define how the office acknowledges a problem. Test a clearly marked submission before accepting the change.
