Verification confirms access; authentication is a separate DNS process. [Mailchimp's authentication overview](https://mailchimp.com/help/about-email-authentication/), checked 2026.10.14. For your agent newsletter, require a received-message check before accepting the setup. Then follow its seller or buyer link through your website to a received test inquiry. Use the requirements below as a brief for your domain administrator and website provider. ## Choose the sending domain and identify who controls it Mailchimp supports custom authentication for domains your business owns and controls. Public domains such as Gmail and Yahoo cannot be authenticated by you. [Mailchimp's authentication overview](https://mailchimp.com/help/about-email-authentication/), checked 2026.10.14. Choose an approved sender address on a domain you control. Keep the sender identity consistent with the business named on your website. If you use a brokerage-controlled domain, ask its administrator to approve the sending arrangement and DNS work. Require existing website and email records to be preserved unless a separately reviewed change needs them. If using a sending subdomain, verify it separately. Select Add & Verify Domain, enter the sender address, and request the verification email. Confirm using its link or code. Mailchimp's manual instructions supply two CNAME records for DKIM and a TXT record for DMARC. Copy the account's Name and Value fields. Do not substitute values from another account, a screenshot, or a generic tutorial. Give the administrator the proposed values through your agreed account-access process. Require a review of the existing DMARC record before applying Mailchimp's proposed TXT value. Have the administrator reconcile the current policy with the newsletter setup. Keep the policy decision and DNS edit together in the change record. ## Review DMARC across your business email DKIM lets a sender sign email so recipients can verify it with a public key. DMARC checks authentication and alignment with the visible From domain. It passes when either SPF or DKIM passes with the required alignment. Ask the administrator to account for each approved sender before changing that policy. Include the newsletter, ordinary business email, and website-generated notifications in the review. Require separate checks for each service. For a new DMARC rollout, Google recommends starting with `p=none`, reviewing reports, and gradually introducing enforcement.
