Keep the client unnamed. Explain what changed, what you measured, and what remains uncertain. A useful case study lets a prospective buyer inspect your reasoning. It should not require a fabricated business name or a result you cannot trace. The FTC requires advertising claims to have supporting evidence before publication. It contains no real customer result. ## Decide what you are allowed to disclose Start from the agreement and any specific permission covering publication. Have the responsible account owner approve the exact proposed text and assets. Resolve confidentiality questions before drafting around them. Keep names, logos, identifying domains, private messages, and unapproved screenshots out of the page. Review image labels, filenames, and downloadable attachments as well as visible paragraphs. If permission is missing, describe your method using a clearly labeled demonstration built from material you own. Keep that demonstration separate from a claimed client engagement. ## Separate three forms of proof Decide whether the page shows a delivered artifact, a measured observation, or an analysis of possible causes. Give each a distinct label. | Evidence type | What to retain before publication | | --- | --- | | Work delivered | Approved scope, dated change record, and permitted artifact | | Observation | Original measurement, definition, period, and comparison | | Interpretation | Explanation of assumptions and other changes considered | Do not turn a completed deliverable into a revenue result. Do not turn a later increase into proof that one edit caused it. State only the relationship your evidence supports. If the page uses a percentage, retain the starting and ending values, denominator, period, and calculation. If those cannot be shared or verified, leave the number out. ## Write the page around a buyer's decision Use a narrow opening that names the business problem and permitted context. Explain the assignment and the boundaries of your role. Then show the work and the observed result with its limitations. A proposed structure is **Problem**, **Scope**, **Work completed**, **Evidence**, **Limits**, and **Related service**. Use headings that fit the case rather than filling empty sections with general agency claims. Keep the industry description broad enough to respect the approved disclosure. Include only details needed to understand the work. Ask the account owner whether the combination of details is permitted before publication. ## Make anonymous proof understandable Label withheld material honestly. A proposed note could explain that identifying details are omitted under the disclosure agreement, but only if that agreement exists. Do not create a composite result from several customers. Do not replace missing facts with invented headcounts, locations, dates, or quotes. Keep a hypothetical illustration labeled as hypothetical throughout. Use screenshots only when their content and display rights have been checked. If a public image would reveal prohibited information, substitute a permitted description or omit it. Preserve the unmodified source privately for internal verification. ## Review the entire page as one claim Ask the reviewer to inspect the headline, chart, caption, body, and call to action together. Confirm that the headline does not suggest more than the evidence section supports. Use this acceptance checklist: | Check | Required decision | | --- | --- | | Permission | Exact public text and assets approved | | Measurement | Values traceable to the permitted source | | Comparison | Periods and definitions disclosed | | Attribution | Your role and other contributors described accurately | | Privacy | Identifying details and attachments reviewed | | Next step | Linked service matches the work illustrated | Keep the approved page version with its evidence record. Recheck the page when later edits add claims or change the context. Avoid treating anonymization as permission to invent a stronger story. ## Connect the proof to a service you sell Link the case study from the relevant service description. Offer a project inquiry that asks about the buyer's problem without promising the same result.
